About Finsight

Why Finsight

Finsight grew from a recurring problem encountered across the financial data world.

Financial institutions have enormous amounts of data and deep business knowledge. But the meaning that connects them is often fragmented across systems, models, mappings, rules, documents and people.

Modern data platforms have made data increasingly accessible. AI makes the remaining problem more important:

How does AI understand what that data actually means in the context of a financial institution?

Finsight was created to work on that problem.

What We Believe

Financial context is becoming infrastructure

AI needs more than access to tables, documents and APIs. To support meaningful financial decisions, it needs to understand clients, products, portfolios, positions, events and relationships — and how their meaning changes with the situation. We believe this financial context will become an increasingly important part of the architecture connecting institutional data with AI.

Build on what institutions already have

Financial institutions do not need another technology programme that starts by replacing their existing data estate. Their systems already contain decades of investment, business logic and institutional knowledge. Finsight is designed to add context to that estate — connecting and operationalising its meaning rather than replacing the systems underneath it.

Depth matters

Finsight does not aim to cover the entire AI stack. We focus on a narrower problem where financial-domain knowledge matters deeply: representing financial context and making it operational for real business use cases.

From Context to Business Value

A financial ontology or semantic model is not the end product.

Its value appears when connected financial context helps someone identify an opportunity, understand a situation, explain why it matters or make a better decision.

That is where Finsight is focused today.

Our work brings together financial-domain knowledge, semantic modelling, data engineering and AI to turn fragmented institutional knowledge into operational financial intelligence.

Linxiao Ma is a financial data and technology architect with more than 20 years of experience spanning software engineering, large-scale data platforms and financial data architecture.

His work has focused particularly on Capital Markets and FICC, where he has designed and delivered data foundations, canonical models, cloud data platforms and information architectures for complex financial environments. More recently, his work has increasingly concentrated on financial semantics, ontology, metadata, lineage and AI-native information architecture — exploring how financial knowledge and institutional context can be made explicit, connected and usable by both people and AI.
